Jurors

C. Scott Shuffitt
Born and raised in Louisville, graduated from Valley High School and
attended Ahrens Trade School where I studied graphic design. My career as an
artist started before I finished high school however, as me and a couple of
friends scored some sweet sign painting gigs. Into college I decided to
start a t-shirt printing company, from that a budding company called
Perpetual Underground was hatched and from that came a small store front in
the Highlands called the Mothership Connection. It was via the store that
Lebowski Fest came to be. Now in its ninth year, we have traveled the globe
spreading the word of Lebowski, all the while I’ve worked off and on with
art in many mediums. I continue to explore the arts and look forward to all
the projects that lay ahead.

Mary Yates
Mary Yates is a fine artist that deals with photographic imagery in historic process, digital images and video.
Her life truly centers around the arts in one way or another. She is actively involved with arts nonprofits and helps to bring innovative work to local arts audiences through serving on exhibition committees, grant writing and public lectures. She has always embraced new technologies and was excited by the possibilities that digital photography and imaging offered. It was only a matter of time before she started to combine traditional wet-darkroom processes with digital imaging techniques. She loves the marriage of hi-tech / low-tech in art forms. Working in this manner allows her to create singular images with impact that comment on the transition of human history.

Keith Linton
Keith Linton’s work begins with contemporary, industrial products such as foams, plastics, and other synthetics. In their raw, original state, these appear cold and manufactured. His attempt is to enliven and give character to these materials through multiple processes giving them a sense of history.
Collections of objects are assembled then taken to a detrimental state when a piece remains unresolved. This disregard is executed with intent of reproducing and showing evidence of uncontrollable and unforgiving energy, taking influence from forces of nature, the structure of the universe, as well as the artist's thought and creative process. Revivication takes place with application of layers of paint, fragments left over from previous pieces, or fresh synthetics. Additions are made on an immediate basis and are intended to visually or structurally improve weak areas. This process of addition and subtraction provides several templates which are revisited.
Keith received his BA from University of Louisville, and his MFA from Miami University, Ohio. He has exhibited, locally and nationally in galleries and museums including KY, OH, RI, TX, WA, SC, NY, and Monterrey Mexico.
